Once an old sweater from the 1990s…this little clever tote bag is reminiscent of the nostalgia of the 1950s while still having that colorful 1990s nostalgia:. Kid.N.Playful; Pearly Jammy; Fresh Princey; and Salt-N-Peppary.
I washed and pressed and formed this wool by hand in order to felt it so that the fibers would be tighter – and took great care to preserve as much of the original patterning as was possible. It is part acrylic/synthetic so that part of the process was a challenge.
In order to highlight the beauty of the knit, I lined the bag with a lovely old chocolate syrup colored silk charmeuse blouse. Super classy. Totally kitchy 1950s glameriffic.
I like to try and put a lot of details into the bags. All of my bags are double lined, meaning that they are lined with the original lining and also a layer of felt. This adds to the strength of the bag when using repurposed products.
This bag’s particular back story will be included on a card within so that the person for whom you are gift giving (Even if it is for yourself) will be able to enjoy this sweater’s journey.
